Heading back

We have spent a couple of days in Llangollen, taking advantage of the hook-up to mains electricity that is included in the mooring charge. Sometimes it is nice not to have to think about how much power we are using! Most the time I would rather be travelling and do without the electricity supply.

We spent our time during the day just wandering round, visiting the museum and generally relaxing. The weather has been reasonably kind to us, just a few showers. Although Llangollen is touristy it is relatively unspoilt, I just ignore the gift shops.

After taking full advantage of our 48 hours we headed back to Trevor, across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and moored for the night just beyond the Fron Lift bridge. The journey back was considerably quicker than the journey up and not just because we were travelling with the current.

Today's journey 5.5 miles and 1 lift bridge.

So far this year we have travelled 533.2 miles, 451 locks, 49 swing bridges, 16 lift bridges and 21 tunnels

In 2011 we travelled 461.4 miles, 444 locks, 3 swing bridges, 34 lift bridges and 15 tunnels

During 2010 we travelled 740.3 miles, 642 locks, 53 swing bridges, 4 lift bridges and 25 tunnels

Since Ray retired we have travelled 1779 miles 1537 locks, 105 swing bridges, 54 lift bridges and 61 tunnels
